The Venue

Barn Star Events is an authentic, historic barn sitting on 35 acres of farmland, surrounded by mountains. This rustic, red timber-frame gambrel style barn was built circa 1945 by the family’s great grandfather. It served as protection for his Angus cattle, hay storage and drying tobacco and remains in the Boyd family. The Barn is easy to find and access for guests. The grounds are flat and parking is close and abundant. The barn is one level with 40 foot open cathedral ceilings showing off all the old barn wood, with a cat walk displaying old antiques. A chandelier hangs down adding to the rustic yet elegant feel. Once inside you will be standing on stained concrete floors, with an open floor plan making many different arrangements possible.

The barn offers tables with white table clothes, and white chairs to seat up to 200. Rental of tents and additional tables and chairs can be arranged. The barn offers several staging areas for cakes and desserts, displays, guest interaction, food/beverage service and more. The barn has modern up to date bathrooms that are handicap accessible. The women’s bathroom connects to the bridal suite, which offers a beautiful, comfortable space for a bride and her party; as well as a direct door to the back silo area of the barn. By the silo is an old claw tub perfect for chilling down beverages when not used as a photo prop. Combined with the garden-theme silo this concrete area is often used as the bar area after the ceremony. The bridal suit, having access to the bathroom and outdoors allows and “no peeking” before the big moment or quite possibly a romantic place for a “first look.” The kitchen is perfect for prep area for your caterers offering two refrigerators, a stove to keep items warm, microwave, commercial ice machine, sink, and kitchen table. A short walk from the barn is the groom’s den. The den offers a place away from the hustle and bustle of the girls getting ready but close enough to get called for picture time. The den is also loaded with distractions such as a: ping pong table, pool table, retro video games, foosball, comfortable seating, TV with console video games and music at your fingertips. There is a bathroom, refrigerator, bar top to play cards or games, plenty to keep the guys busy.

Behind the barn, we have a small creek running between the barn and ceremony site, a foot-bridge with planking and rhododendron branch railings crosses you over to the lush ceremony site flanked with crimson maples. Centered is large, log arbor framed by holly trees and rose bushes and ready for you to adorn with your own decor. Beyond the arbor is more lush lawn leading to a hillside pastured for our horses who love to “witness” your union and “greet” your guests. In each direction our property is overlooked by the mountains and blue skies with amazing colors year-round. After the ceremony, barn attendants can bring out corn hole boards, lawn activities and seating; as well light a fire in our firepit and seating area. Guests are welcome to flow through the barn and grounds following the ceremony. The far end of the barn mostly opens to the patio area of picnic tables and umbrellas and an old stage coach wagon adding to the charm of the barn. The property is marked off by holly bushes on one side and Fraser Firs Christmas trees as part of our farm on the other side. The grounds of the barn are kept well maintained and picturesque with antique tractors, farm equipment, landscapes that are dynamic with the seasons having flowers in bloom in spring and summer, corn, vegetables and sunflowers late summer into fall and shocks or corn, leaves and pumpkins in the fall. There is such a relaxed tranquility to Barn Star Events that it will be hard to leave.
